Body Fat
This calculator estimates your Body Fat Percentage (%), and also displays your Lean Body Mass and Body Fat Weight.

It's important when dieting that you monitor your change in body fat rather than just body weight.  Particulary during weight training programs it is often the case that you will gain muscle mass, while losing fat.  Sometimes the net difference may be an increase in overall weight which isn't a true reflection on whether or not your fitness and diet program is working.

Here's a guideline from the American Council on Exercise:

Classification Women (% fat) Men (% fat)
Essential Fat 10-12% 2-4%
Athletes 14-20% 6-13%
Fitness 21-24% 14-17%
Acceptable 25-31% 18-25%
Obese 32% plus 25% plus
